Welcome to the web site of First Baptist Church of Columbus.  If this is your first time to visit, we hope you'll find the site helpful in getting acquainted with First Baptist.  Once you've gotten acquainted, we hope you'll worship with us soon in order to meet us personally.  We're a friendly bunch of people eager to know you and fellowship with you.

Our doors are open to all, regardless of where one is on his or her spiritual journey.  Together we're an active, involved, and growing group of believers and seekers.  And our desire is to reach out with God's love to all people and help them find and follow Jesus Christ.

We're glad you found us and we look forward to your personal visit soon.

Current Reflection

A Reconciled Heart

In I Corinthians 15:10 the Apostle Paul, reflecting on Jesus’ death, resurrection and appearance to him on the Damascus Road, says, “by the grace of God I am what I am.”  I grew up watching the Pop-eye cartoon.  Reading that phrase “I am what I am” I could not help but hear it in good ole Pop-eye’s voice, “I yam what I yam.”

Paul, however, is giving witness to his faith and call in Christ Jesus as he turns to this phrase.  It is because of God’s grace toward him that he is who he is, and does what he does.   Even though his post-resurrection appearance from Jesus was removed from the others, it was real to him.  His salvation experience on that Damascus road, coupled with its call upon his life to preach the good news, made him what he was.  “I am what I am.” .......more
