American Baptist Youth (7th-12th Grade)

ABY focuses on a balance of four areas important to every youth group: Study, Fellowship, Worship and Service/Outreach. ABY meets regularly on Sunday afternoons at 4 - 6 PM, but often special activities occur for ABY such as Concerts, Service Projects, Conventions, Retreats, and Parties. See the church calendar and below for upcoming events and dates.

The core of what we teach our youth centers on our church's "End In Mind" statements.  These EIM statements permeate our entire Christian Education program from pre schoolers through young adults.  The EIM statements reflect not only what we want our young people to know but what we want them to become.

End in Mind Statements

  • God created me in His image.
  • God knows me completely and He wants me to know Him intimately.
  • God loves me unconditionally.
  • I can trust God no matter what happens.
  • I will turn to Jesus and the Bible to help me make wise choices.
  • By accepting Christ, He has saved me from my sin.
  • I will treat other people the way I want to be treated.
  • God chooses me, every day, to show His love to the World.
  • God has made me unique and has plans to use me to help others know him.

Sticky Faith Plus: A video and internet based class designed to discuss and share ideas on how to build lasting faith in kids.

                What is Sticky Faith?

-          Sticky faith is a book by Kara Powell and Chap Clark based on years of research done on the continuing issue of young people dropping out of their faith after their high school years. Their research shows that almost half of graduating high school seniors struggle deeply with their faith. Realizing the reality of this fact Sticky sets out to offer relationship practices and ideas that can set children no matter where they are age wise on a “trajectory of lifelong faith and service.”

What is the “Plus” of Sticky Faith Plus?

-          Pastor Dave will be the facilitator of this course and he plans to share other resources concerning this topic beyond Sticky Faith that are tailored to help us as a church as we raise our children to have a faith that lasts a lifetime. So the core of the course will be based on the Sticky Faith book but other resources will be studied and shared as well.

Who is this for?

-          Any adults who are involved in helping to raise youth and/or children regardless of age (it’s never too late and it’s never too early) and have a desire to see them have a faith that lasts a lifetime.

What happens if we can’t be there every week?

-          It’s OK, updates of what is covered will be available and topics will often stand alone from week to week. Pastor Dave will do his best to share online updates as well.
